Through practices such as traditional stab-binding, haiku poetry and language learning, we share skills, exchange stories, and explore creativity across different experiences and backgrounds.

Japanese Bookbinding Workshops in Sydney

We facilitate workshops where you can learn traditional stab-binding techniques in Sydney. Often referred to as “Japanese” binding, this method actually originated in China before being refined in Japan, particularly during the Edo period (1600–1868).

No previous experience is needed—our workshops are open to everyone. They provide a calm, creative space to slow down, work with your hands, and bring your ideas together on paper. Your project can be anything—from poetry and photography to personal reflections and visual experiments—as long as it takes shape on paper. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautifully hand-bound piece that is uniquely yours to take home.

＊A zine is a self-published, non-commercial booklet that can be made by hand or with digital tools, usually built around a theme or idea. It’s a fun, free-form way to express yourself—whether through poetry, drawings, photography, collage, or anything else that inspires you.

Japanese haiku workshops in Sydney

Haiku, the shortest form of Japanese poetry, has crossed cultural borders and gained admirers around the world. Its minimal structure, subtle beauty and accessible form continues to inspire people of all backgrounds.

We offers haiku workshops in Sydney for both adults and children. Together, we’ll explore the foundations of haiku, read and appreciate classic examples, and create our own seasonal words—an important element, especially here in the Southern Hemisphere where nature follows a different rhythm. By the end of the session, you’ll compose your own haiku to take home.
