No Olympics! From Tokyo 2021 to Brisbane 2032 documents anti-Olympic activism in Sydney, led by Japanese activists and their allies in opposition to the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
Originally published in Japanese in 2022 and translated for Australian readers by UGUISU BOOKS, this zine examines the issues surrounding the Olympics, including corruption, financial and social impacts, the challenges of hosting mega-events during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the continuing concerns surrounding the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
The publication introduces global anti-Olympic movements and shares perspectives often missing from mainstream discussions about the Games. With Brisbane preparing to host the 2032 Olympics, this zine invites readers to reconsider the relationship between sport, cities, public money, displacement, and social responsibility.
NOlympics Action Sydney is a collective of Japanese activists based in Sydney. Formed in response to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, the group advocates for critical discussion of the Olympic system and connects local struggles with global movements against Olympic mega-events.
